I design and construct kaleidoscopes to custom specifications. Additionally to satisfy numerous requests, I have created detailed plans and a full 114 minute DVD for those who would like to build their own kaleidoscope. Each plan for a beautiful, high quality kaleidoscope includes a history, color photograph, material list, tool list, drawing, and detailed step-by-step instructions. These plans eliminate the problem of drilling a large hole end-to-end through a solid block of expensive wood to make the kaleidoscope barrel. This design turns well on a wood lathe and forms a triangular opening through the center to secure the mirror. The entire process for making the Intermediate Level Kaleidoscope is now recorded on DVD, showing in detail each step of the design, fabrication, glass cutting, object box construction, mirror cutting, finishing, and assembly, with tips, jigs, and safety suggestions.
